A good example of the astonishing undermanagement of our parks. You have to ask yourself, how hard would it be to AT LEAST cut these vines before they pull the tree down? Somehow Greenwich knows how to properly sustain its open spaces. But just a few exits north, it’s a culture of failure mixed with indifference.
Although, it is a very nice photo from Mark Mathias.
It’s not hard to cut the vine. If you cut a piece the entire vine will die. It takes 5 minutes with a hand saw Vines can choke the trees Such trees with vines are all over private property in Westport. So it’s not fair to call out the local government when homeowners fail to care for their own trees.
Oh, it’s COMPLETELY fair to expect a small measure of competency from the custodians of that which is in the public trust. These people are paid quite well by us and accountability ought to come with that. Our largest public parks are a quiet disgrace and everyone knows it. Nothing good will come from looking away or offering pallid excuses.
