The Last Bagel?

Splash may close soon.

Bagel Maven will probably close even sooner.

Owner Alex Perdomo told News 12 that even though he has paid his back rent, his landlord may not take another chance on him.

The popular shop across from Terrain will be open Monday.

As for Tuesday?

Well, Bagel Maven fans should stock up now.

The last splash, the last bagel….Dan, you’re really on a roll here! (sorry, couldn’t help it, heehee!)

  2. Perhaps tomorrow we could all put our money where are mouths are regarding support for local small businesses and invest in Bagel Maven gift cards to show faith in its future.

  3. Looks like a new chapter in the “Whatever happened to Main Street” saga. Owners raise rents to unaffordable levels, so they can sell to the big boys who want to put in more New York boutiques. Mom and Pop owner, unless you’re really wealthy, say bye-bye to the store.

  4. Thanks Dan for your support – @savebagelmaven is what we should be doing – right on about saving the little guy!

I can’t read all of Dan’s posts but I do scan all the titles and it seems that lately businesses in Westport are closing like there’s no tomorrow. Has greed run rampant over our tranquil little seaside east coast home? At the very least I pray most, if not all, of the landlords live in Westport….. I know our Main Street of old is a distant memory but what’s happening to my childhood home? Maybe it’s time to change the name to “Newport”?
