Our Long Wait Is Almost Over…

…because Shake Shack opens July 20.

It’s the most eagerly anticipated Westport hamburger news since way back in 2010, when Five Guys came to town.

Shake Shack sees Five Guys’ burgers and fries, and raises them with hot dogs, shakes and frozen custard.

Plus beer and wine.

Let the burger battles begin.

  1. Five Guys is too expensive. Plus, i find peanut shells all over the floor very disgusting.

Is this a modern-day, upscale version of the burger battle that took place when Carrolls opened and was the challenger to the Crest?

I meant to add that, for me, Big Top was always king of the hill.

I hope Shake Shack is better than Five Guys. I thought their burger was awful!

    What’s “Shake Shake?”

They got a big plug on an interview with Jeter’s father after they hit 3,000 as they were in the background of the food court. BTW, the Yankees do over a million bucks worth of food sales during a home game. Must be those 14 buck beers.

  5. Fortunately, Shake Shack uses superior ingredients and has way more dishes than Five Guys and changes shake flavors with every month

FYI for the people of Westport…. Shake Shack is so far superior to Five Guys it’s not a proper comparison… Danny Meyers the driving force behind this off the hook burger joint has done us a favor by choosing our little town as his place to open… And Dude I don’t think Dr. Jeter was in front of Shake Shack when spoken to, because the stadium doesn’t have it, Citi does.

Dang it, RLS. You should be my editor! Right you are, it was during an interview on the weekend of the subway series. I am correct on the income, however, at each Yankee game: a cool 1.3 million on merchandise and food. All that money to finish second to the Red Sox!

      • But first in the money race.

Unlike the Mets. The Boss must have not trusted Bernie?

          • Richard Lawrence Stein

Actually had nothing to do with trust… George was not part of the tribe… Bernie was a self loathing and self hating tribe basher… He only bothered for the most part to go after lansman…

I am amazed the guy is still alive. He was walking around NYC on bail for months. Does not the “tribe” remember Munich tactics???

Thank heavens for Shake Shack. Five Guys is the worst!! Only go there if you want a way overcooked burger — rare or even medium rare is not in their vocabulary. And if you want crispy fries bring them in from McDonalds.
On the plus side, they do serve a good hotdog.

  8. Great. More fat meat cakes to keep us all fat and stupid. Official calorie count for Shake Shack cheeseburger, fries, shake: 1,640 plus 84g of fat, and it only goes up from there. McD’s quarter pound cheeseburger, medium fries, large “triple thick” shake 1,710 calories plus 63g of fat. Similar, although the McD’s will make you feel sick enough that you miss the next meal, with related savings in calories and fat. What is it about Baby Boomers and their fatburgers?

We might have been the first generation to get hooked on fast food burgers. Not all, though, plenty of us who never go near meat.

    • McD’s; As Yogi said ” Nobody goes there anymore, it’s too crowded.”

  9. I’d still put a Charpentiers burger up against any other (5 Guys, Big Top, Shake Shack, Fuddruckers, even my dearly departed DQ) with confidence in the outcome. A real treasure of a local joint, long gone . . .
