“06880” Podcast: Erik Barbieri

Erik Barbieri is nearing the end of his first year as director of our Parks & Recreation Department.

It’s a key job — and he’s earned plenty of praise for his leadership. He’s visible. He’s proactive.

And he seems to be enjoying himself, and the town.

The other day, Erik joined me at the Westport Library. We chatted about what got him to Westport; what he expected; what he found; where the department is going — and much more.

Click here or below, for a very informative look at our town’s recreational scene. And the man who runs it.

What a fabulous choice for Parks & Rec. Erik certainly has his sh;t together and I would have loved to have worked with him in the 70s. Great interview. 👍🇺🇸

We are very fortunate to have Erik, who hit the ground running last year and has been instrumental to our success. He brings over two decades of Parks & Recreation institutional knowledge, coupled with an enthusiastic passion for the work and exceptional, primary-source–driven analytical and statistical expertise.

Cannot wait to see what he will accomplish next!

  3. Erik has been a great addition to the Town and the department. His positive attitude is infectious and he has the right moral compass when it comes to the citizens. Tons of experience, great attitude, willingness to learn & teach, unafraid to tackle challenges. You can’t ask for more!

  4. I appreciated this podcast, have experienced Erik’s thoughtful and prompt approach to a sensitive issue, and really think he’s a great match for a thoughtful but underfunded job.
