John Maloney’s Westport

The world is a dark place these days.

Around the globe, there are reasons for fear and grief.

Westport is not immune.

At the same time, we are blessed. No matter what our circumstances or concerns, we are surrounded by breathtaking beauty.

Fall is a spectacular time here. Despite everything else going on — elections, work, a government shutdown, wars and much more — we should all take time to appreciate the wonders of our time.

This morning, “06880” photographer John Maloney helps us do just that.

Enjoy!

    Fantastic pics

‘The world is a dark place these days.

I agree but we need to remember that it is no darker a place then it was when we were growing up…
    McCarthy
Nike missile sites near our homes
    KKK
    JFK murdered
    Cuban missles off our coast
    MLK murdered
    RFK murdered
Israel being attacked in a daily basis
Jewish athletes being slaughtered in Munich
    American cities on fire
Friends being sent to SE Asia and not coming back
Students being murdered at Kent state
    Etc
    Etc

Might seem dark but it has been darker, much darker.

    • But, with all that you outline, Bruce, a President, himself, out to get his citizen “enemies,” gives far more reason for “fear and grief” than in any days of yore.

You must not have not lived through those years or those of our parent or their parents… it’s all perception.

    • Add in the assassinations of Medgar Evers & Malcolm X, & that was 5 assassinations in 5 years, June 1963 to June 1968. Yes, challenging times.
      Meanwhile, beautiful pix, John

Thank you for the wonderful photos and words. Great way to start the day.

  4. Great Article and absolutely right. There is not a better time to be alive and there is not a better place to live than right here in Westport in this great country. There were far worse issues in other generations however, we spend way too much time on unnecessary National politicking in town. Good people end up going at each other’s throats. We need a six month break from protests and fighting with each other other. Dan and John, you nailed it, lets enjoy what we got here!!!

Thank you John Maloney!! My morning started off in such a positive and grateful manner because you shared the importance of appreciating the good and beauty around us instead of reading about the ugly and sad world we are now experiencing. Please keep finding the good around us each day so we can be THANKFUL to be alive!

I’m technically 06890 now but I lived in Westport for many years running Pocket Players. I loved your fall pictures. We must continue to have artistic positivity despite political upheaval.
I run a free haunted house in Southport Harbor now. Last year we went dark. But this year we are back because we are needed. Something Wicked in Southport will feature free fall experience of Ghost Pirates to all at 139 Main Street. We welcome Westporters.
