The Merritt Parkway has been closed in both directions near Exit 42.
There are reports of an accident — possibly involving a stolen car — and a police search in the areas of both Clinton Avenue and Weston Road.
Adjacent streets are, of course, filled with traffic. That includes Wilton Road.
The Post Road is backed up too.
“06880” will provide an update, when Westport Police have time to do so.
For now: Be careful. And avoid that part of town, if possible.

Dan, Keep us updated. I just left Westport yesterday and we ate lunch at the Spotted Horse and it might have been the best salad I’ve ever had!

Richard, I met with a 1965 Staples graduate. My father and her mother were both born in Westport in 1918. They both signed each other’s 1936 Staples yearbook. Little did they know that 88 years later, their children would meet! I won’t mention her name because I respect her privacy.

Re: the car theft. I listen to WICC occasionally on weekends on the internet when they have music. They have absolutely no local news capability. This week they switched from a vanilla (no network identification) news from NBC to CBS. When I was a teenager they boasted 6 local reporters–probably more than some NYC stations. Are there any Fairfield County radio stations with local news reporters? (For that matter WICC isn’t really a Fairfield County given their studio is in Milford.)
