I’m always amazed at how many people don’t use the 3-level parking garage on Wilton Road, opposite Bartaco and OKO restaurants.
But because I am also amazed at how observant and vigilant* “06880” readers are, I’m not surprised at how quickly so many nailed last week’s Photo Challenge.
It showed the Fire Department standpipe connection on the top level of that parking garage. And it is not only across the street from a frequently filled parking lot; as former firefighter and dispatcher Ken Gilbertie notes, it is also across from the original Vigilant Hose Company volunteer firehouse.
Besides Ken, our firefighter’s hat is off to Fred Cantor, Wendy Cusick, Gloria Gouveia, Clark Thiemann, Adam Starr, Richard Stein and Soodie Farley.
This week’s Photo Challenge comes from Nancy Kondub-Harris. If you know where in Westport you would see this, click “Comments” below.

Staples. Near the field house.
This is a total guess but I will say the not totally new YMCA
Re: 3 lvel parking garage – A pedestrian brige would be helpful
Staples near the gym entrance…was even there when I graduated in 1974
I have vague memories of seeing this at a school in Westport from 20+ years ago? Staples? I remember there also used to be some of these at the old Bedford (current Saugatuck El).
Staples
Staples….on auditorium building????
I admit I saw Staples on a couple of answers, which gives me a little more confidence I might be correct. I haven’t been on campus for 40+ years but I have a faint memory of seeing this at Staples somewhere. No clue where but somewhere on campus.
