Friday Flashback #243

This has been one of the most beautiful springs in memory. Trees, flowers, bushes — the colors are eye-poppingly wondrous.

There’s only one thing missing: the beautiful tree that stood for decades in front of the old YMCA (now Anthropologie).

Of course, nothing lasts forever. Once upon a time, another large tree graced the Y’s corner on Main Street.

Look what happened:

Could I be wrong? I think I remember two cherry trees out in front of the Old YMCA…

When this picture was taken the Cherry Trees were nothing more than a gleam in some horticulturalists eye!

I’m still so upset about the trees in front of the old Y. Why did they take them down? They were so beautiful. Gorgeous view at the top of Main Street. Shame.

Fairfield just had the same kerfuffle about the 2 cherry trees in front of the Community Theater. Replant and they’ll grow again.

That is an awesome shot of the elm coming down. A lot of work taking that big boy down.
