  1. Nice! Pretty rural looking for Westport. Is that THIS year? I haven’t seen leaves that yellow or on the ground here in Westerly-Pawcatuck. Probably soon tho.

  2. Actually, this is in Fairfield. I used to live across the street at 161 Sturges Highway, on the Westport side. The street to the left is Sturges. The one curving right is Cross Highway.

  3. Great shot! Horses on the hill are wonderful to see too.

  4. Another beauty…this is the CT I remember

  5. Love it.

  6. This is in Fairfield. My great uncle, Clifford Brotherton (fathers side), then Everett Banks (mothers side) owned the farm until the late 1980’s. Cows then, horses now. Great photo !

    • Clif — I believe it was still owned by Everett Banks until 1998. I remember speaking to an elderly gentleman and lady sitting on the porch of the house. There were also a couple of donkeys that would run down to the fence for goodies whenever anyone walked by.

Beautiful photo…many memories of this en route out to Patterson Club,
    Fairfield,1960’s..

  8. A beautiful picture taken from just beyond the Merrit Parkway overpass.

The Fall foliage framing the farm is inspiring, and in this photo, it gives
one a glimpse of times past when farms were common along most of
this road that bordered Fairfield and Westport.

I lived on Sturges Highway for eighteen years and in hindsight, the memories
of many close and friendly neighbors are ones I still cherish.
