Tina Wessel Service: Time Change

The time for the funeral service for Tina Wessen — the well-known local homeless woman who died recently — has been changed, to accommodate arrivals from out of town.

The new time is 2 p.m., on Friday, December 9. The site is Christ & Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, in downtown Westport.

Meanwhile, the Westport Police — who helped secure medical services for Tina’s cat — have released this photo of her beloved pet:

  1. Dan – sorry to interrupt, but I believe her name is Tina Wessel, (not Wessen). J

Dan — I don’t recall ever meeting or even seeing Tina. But, apparently, she was well known around the Woman’s Club, of which I am a member. Is there a photo of her anywhere that might jog my memory? Thanks.

Dan, Your tribute to Lee Papageorge notwithstanding, I have been profoundly moved by your coverage of – and the response to – the death of Tina Wessel. The outpouring of concern for Tina’s beloved cats brought tears to my eyes. The response to Tina’s life and death resurrected my somewhat wavering faith in humanity. As a former Weston resident, I would like to say “Brava Westport!” for your compassionate response to the life and death of Tina Wessel. Your light shines brightly as never before.

Hello Susan, my name is Andrew Christman I’m a photojournalist at News12CT, did you or anyone reading this post know Tina personally? We are trying to put together a tribute piece for her, looking for anyone who would be willing to talk about her. I can tell by all the comments that she was loved by the community and will be missed.
