    Thanks for the photos, I always love knowing what’s going on down by the water during storms. We live only a mile up the road from Elvira’s, but on days like today it’s just a little too far to venture over for a look. It would be fun if we had a few live webcams set up at Compo, Burying Hill, and Longshore! 🙂

    Wonderful posting, Mr. Woog. Loved the photos. We’re getting hammered here. Expecting some two feet when all is said and done. Enjoyed these conditions more in circa 1978. Hope all is safe and warm where you are in Westport! TT

      Thanks, Tom, for the report from New Jersey. And yes, I remember ’78 well. The Brown University community responded magnificently, helping the rest of Rhode Island — after tobogganning down from 2nd-floor windows!

    Thanks Dan! So interesting to see these places during storms.

    It’s times like these, and pretty much ONLY times like these, that I’m glad I don’t live on the water.

    Scary seeing the Canal Road shot. My Dad lived on Saugatuck for short time, (and Mill Beach, and Greens Farms) back in the 1970’s, and I always had a vague feeling that it was a precarious place to own a home – childhood foreshadowing perhaps?

    But oh I do love the salty air.
