Photo Challenge #545

Of course Pat Saviano knew last week’s Photo Challenge.

As she noted, it showed the “view from the bridge on South Sylvan, across from Saviano Lane.”

Susan Garment’s photo — of a lazy stream, a swan, lush fiolage and a pergola — looked like it was taken in a quiet part of Westport. (Click here to see.)

In fact, it’s near one of the busiest roads in town: Riverside Avenue. But it’s a local treasure, and plenty of readers knew exactly where it was.

Along with Pat Saviano (and Cheryl Saviano Petrone), they include Andrew Colabella, Seth Schachter, J. Scott Broder, Jonathan McClure, Pete Powell, Michael Calise, Marcia K. Falk, Peter Barlow, Robin Jaffee Frank, Rachel Halperin, Darcy Sledge and Brooks Sumberg.

Now on to this week’s Photo Challenge. If you know where in Westport you’d see this, click “Comments” below.

Flood Warning Is Real; Extended Until 6 PM

The National Weather Service warned of flash flooding.

They were right.

This was the scene moments ago at the Westport railroad station, opposite the former Mystic Market:

It’s a good thing very few folks park at the station these days.

And here was the scene not far away, at Sylvan Road South near Gilbertie’s:

The flood warning has been extended until 6 p.m.

Photo Challenge #232

Sylvan Road is well named.

Last week’s Photo Challenge — courtesy of Tom Lowrie — showed a pastoral scene. The flowers, bushes and rock gardens are on a main road. But where?

They’re on Sylvan Road South, near Gilbertie’s Herb Gardens. Marion Kelly, Amy Schneider and Darcy Sledge were quick with the answer. Though I gotta say, last Sunday was gorgeous. They shoulda been outside gardening. (Click here for the photo.)

This week’s Photo Challenge also has a nature’s feel to it. Kinda, anyway.
