This week’s tantalizing spring weather has Westporters thinking about — and going — outdoors.*
Markus Marty, Jenna Petok and the Bike Westport team are more than ready.
The non-profit — whose mission is to create connected, shared streets that bring the community together — has created a list of resources, tips and ideas, for a more bikeable spring and summer.
Bike Westport also wants to make Westport more walkable. They’ve included information on walking and hiking trails too.

*Spoiler alert: Showers are forecast for later today. With possible light snow. Ugh.

I would love for Bike Westport to lead with helmet safety everytime.
I see kids everyday with no helmets or very loose helmets. (I live next to an ice cream shop) Please start every article, every event, every emal stating the helmet laws and the proper fit and the horrors of traumatic brain injuries. I really can’t believe parents send kids out without a helmet.
My wonderful pediatrician told me to stay off the streets with my child on the back of my bike. I immediately stopped riding with my kid on my bike, because of the potential for a distracted driver to hit us. Then and now I only ride on quiet roads.
Also, kids need to know how to cross the road using traffic lights when there are no cross walk signs. Kids also need to know the etiquette on sidewalks when on their bikes, if that is even allowed.
safety first with our precious kids and people on bikes and pedestrians.
These roads are not the roads we drove on as kids.
Does anyone know where to bring used but good bikes? So many decent bicycles get thrown away at the dump.
Also . . . run, walk, stroll, pick up litter (helpful tips for them?) . . . busy roads!
