More than 100 times, I’ve sat on the left side of the Westport Library stage, and interviewed Westporters.
Politicians, entrepreneurs, entertainers, athletes — I’ve chatted with all of them.
The other day, the tables were turned. Literally.
I moved to the right side. I became the interviewee.
My place as interviewer was taken by Steve Parrish. He asked me questions: about “06880,” Westport, my life and more.
He did a great job. He made me think.
I hope my answers were at least half as interesting as my 100-plus guests’ have been.

fabulous interview! Thank you for your dedication, and your great talent, for this ongoing source of information, and inspiration.

I lived in Westport for 24 years but joined the “third group” Dan spoke of four years ago. I read 06880 daily because I want to stay connected to a community that means a lot to me. There is no local blog where I live now (small town on the Maine coast) so I can only say “Lucky you!” to 06880 readers.
One aspect of Dan’s blog that means a lot to me is the fact that a Facebook or other social media account is not required. It is truly “free” – although I have donated annually for many years – and ad-free as well. Where else can you find an informative, well-written, reliable and “accessible to all” ad-free blog?
Thank you, Dan, for creating 06880 sixteen years ago.
Learned a lot.
You’re an interesting guy and both my Staples sons think you’re the best.
On comments: the change to names really changed the politeness index. One comment change not mentioned in your conversation was the rise of TDS comments even in off topic posts. It has permeated your blog like nail scratches on a blackboard. Wish I could have heard your thoughts on TDS on 06880.
Fabulous blog and amazing songs.
Hey those TDSers are better energy producers than a rowing machine 😜 but I have a bloody tongue 👅
God bless Dan🙏🇺🇸
Thanks, Tom – much appreciated. You made my day!
And you’re right about TDS comments (and others that are off topic). I’ll try to keep a closer eye on them. On we go!
Excellent interview. Dan, we appreciate you!

Truly superb interview.
Dan/Steve, possible/likely that Steve could/would do, say, every 4th — or some such — podcast? … part of the process of giving Dan a bit more of an occasional breather, & taking advantage of Steve’s clearly well-honed skills & perspective.
Thank you, both.
Dan, I loved this!! I’ve been reading you since Woog’s World and never knew some of these things – especially the number of daily readers! (hope they all donate;) As a 40 yr resident of Westport (and now still a daily visitor from 5 min away), I have always felt that your 06880 is truly unique in its mix of coverage of official news, celebrating people and building community and a venue for open conversation. Can’t imagine Westport without 06880 – keep on keeping on!
It felt as if you were being interviewed by Scott Pelley. Steve not only looks and sounds like Pelley; he conducted the interview in every bit of the professional manner that Pelley does in his interviews.
Kudos to both of you.
Both Steve Parrish and Dan Woog represent the best of Westport. What a fabulous interview showcasing part of why it is such a pleasure to have lived here for 50+ years.
Thank you, Dan for being such an open book with us !
Glad I invested the time to listen to Steve and Dan. Very interesting. Wish Steve had asked Dan which 06880 story received the most comments. I think I know the answer…unless it has changed, it was a story about Dan’s Mom
Thanks, Don. Much appreciated. And you are correct: over 250 comments on the story I posted after she died. It was so heartwarming to read them all.
And thanks to Dan – there is always something new to learn on 06880DanWoog.com about Westport and the intersection where “Westport Meets the World!”
Great interview on both sides of the microphone!
