Enufelon!

The Staples High School graduate is a successful entrepreneur. Capitalism has been good to him.

He was an early, and happy, Tesla owner. But even before Elon Musk took his chainsaw to government, the Westport native was uncomfortable with the man behind the automobile.

And with others of Musk’s ilk too: the Bezoses, Kochs and Zuckerbergs, billionaire-types who used their wealth to take government policy matters into their own hands.

In conversations with friends, and in writing, the Staples grad grasped at words to describe those people buying politicians and political favors — as well as those capitulating to them, on the receiving end.

“Oligarch, robber barons — those are anachronistic terms,” he says. “There was nothing in the vernacular.”

So he set out to create one. (The man prefers to remain anonymous. He wants the focus to be on his project, not on him.)

He came up with “Enough Elon.” Playfully, he turned it into one word, spelled phonetically: “Enufelon.”

Then — he is, after all, a very successful entrepreneur — he set about branding it.

He wanted to create an icon, or unifying symbol, to knit together and help galvanize the millions of people who, he knows, feel as he does.

He hired a designer, to bring his ideas — something simple, yet alarming or menacing looking — to life.

The result, after several iterations, is this:

(Along the way — in a very telling moment — the designer expressed concern about the project. “Are you worried about retribution?” the entrepreneur asked. “Yes,” the designer said. Enufelon’s creator promised anonymity, but notes, “What kind of world do we live in, where people are so fearful about something like this?”)

The Westport native secured the Enufelon.com domain, and developed a website. In addition to spreading the word about his word, it offers branded products (coffee mugs, stickers, caps, tees, totes and posters), and provides opportunities to sponsor special events, and license the trademark.

He welcomes collaboration. For example, a union — or politician like Bernie Sanders and AOC – that sells products on their site, can sell Enufelon swag too.

One goal, says the wordsmith, is for “enufelon” to become a symbol of solidarity for the resistance.

Another is for the word to be used regularly, and become part of the lexicon.

A third is to create a .org subsidiary — much as how OpenAI began before spinning out a commercial, for-profit entity. Enufelon’s “.org” could facilitate and sponsor public services such as watchdog groups, think tanks, research into private philanthropy and more.

Items for sale in the “Stuffelon” store, at Enufelon.com.

Enufelon’s inventor notes that trademarked brand names may eventually find their way into the dictionary.

“Escalator” and “thermos,” he says, were once trademarked.

Will “enufelon” one day join them?

On one hand, he hopes so.

On the other hand, wouldn’t it be nice to have it become as anachronistic as, say, oligarch and robber baron?

I like Felon! Right on Dan!!

I thought “Newspeak” in 1984 was the last word on dystopian literature but this updates it.
    Can’t wait for the movie.

  3. Quite brilliant…wonder how long it will be before, as it’s creator fears being outed, it becomes risky just to wear or even have an “Enufelon” product. Seems as though it COULD happen here.

    • Elaine Marino

Dan K: Just think of the confusion that caused by someone who wears the “Enufelon” shirt but also drives a Tesla. Half the country wants to rip the shirt off the person’s back (or worse) while the other half wants to torch the Tesla.

“What a mixed up, muddled up, shook up world…”

You have turned a corner here with this article. Not a good corner either. Geeze!

  5. Britt E Anderson

Interestingly, I focused in on “felon,” not enuf elon.

  6. Jack Backiel

Robert, With the world being twisted into knots over the last month, maybe you should rethink who actually has turned a corner here! Trump’s inner circle probably made a fortune yesterday when Trump saw the economy was close to exploding and then “ signaled “ that it was a good time to buy and shortly after his knees buckled and kicked the can down the road. Of course none of his friends ( wink wink) knew about what was to happen a few hours before this sudden 180 he PROMISED would NEVER happen two days before! The chaos will continue so I think the ones who have gone to far is Trump & his Musk. “ENUFKOSS” please. Listen to me and Rand Paul.

    Think about selling lye soap

  8. While I welcome, applaud and support the pushback against Musk, I think overemphasis on Musk without a constant and definitive linkage to Trump and the GOP is potentially counterproductive. The latter is the heart of the problem that allowed Musk in the door, and a resistance that shines the brightest light on Musk allows Trump and the GOP to hide in the shadows.

  9. Wow, this is shocking I thought there was a mantra of Westport. There’s no home for hate here … That is unless it serves the narrative of the individual who runs the story.

Sad day. …. It’s Unfortunate to see that something like the good 06880. Blog is supporting this hate

    • Oh, I guess you haven’t heard. There’s a new rule: If a group of rich old racists and poor young racists dismantles the rights of women, brown people, immigrants, veterans, the elderly, the struggling, the sick, the LGBTQI+, the unvaccinated, and the hungry, well, then—hate gets a home here. The gobsmacking hypocrisy doesn’t get you a free pass to “civility.” Nice try.

      • Diane Johnson

Pretty succinct summation of where we are right now, most unfortunately, Tom.
To revise a bit, if I may: I see a group of rich old greedy people and poor young misled people who have been allowed to dismantle the rights of women, persons of color, immigrants, veterans, the elderly, the struggling, the sick, the LGBTQI+, the unhoused, and the hungry because they’ve been duped into believing the lie that “these people” are the boot on their neck preventing them from living productive lives. And look where we are now; we’ve given over the keys to those with unsatiated greed to feather their own nests.
We all do better when we all do better.

“We must especially beware of that small group of selfish men who would clip the wings of the American Eagle in order to feather their own nests.” Franklin D. Roosevelt

It’s a long list for each party, has been for at least the past 100 years….can’t believe you didn’t at least include Soros at the start of the post.

Fascinating article today (https://www.nytimes.com/2025/04/10/us/politics/trump-showers-water-pressure.html) about Trump’s obsession with water pressure, showering and his beautiful hair. I just the times had clarified weather those showers were the regular kind or golden.

    • Russell Gontar

      Correction:

I just wish the times had clarified whether those showers were the regular kind or golden.

Your journey lately into political discourse and your obvious attitude that Staples students in their new lives endevors can do no wrong and are the new” Westport Way” is so slanted and biased that your effectiveness as a journalist for Westport is now so tainted with your obvious personal beliefs and philosophies that your blog is not accurately representative of all Westporters beliefs and opinions.
I guess what is next is Gorilla Action Westport with a whole camo line of clothing and accessories that will inspire more Staples students and graduates to stiffen the “resistance” !

Dan, you should rethink your leanings when you put them in play under the banner “06880” as though they are the majority of Westporters. Right your ship! Or I for one am getting off at the next port!

  13. Prince you are pathetic. Get a life where you can do more than read the instructions on the shampoo bottle!

  14. How sad it is that with T in office, an entrepreneur has to withhold his name out of retribution fear. Wonder just how kong it will be before wearing or showing such symbols will be just as risky. It IS happening here.

  15. I am for whoever is cutting government waste

    • Jack Backiel

Joan, We’re all in favor of cutting government waste. The question is how should it be done?

      • Eric Buchroeder SHS ‘70

        Jack,
It’s not easy to do something that’s never been done before especially when you’re facing “non-violent” people that aren’t shy about saying that they want you dead.

    • Russell Gontar

Are you familiar with Inspectors General?

Does anyone seriously believe that any of the criminal teenage ninja clowns ransacking the government actually know what they’re doing or could remotely do it as well as the IGs? Maybe when they’re done with that, they can fire all the air traffic controllers and take over their jobs. Can’t be that hard, right?

    • Paul Lowenstein

Agreed. Let’s start with Westport. First, we eliminate half of the town jobs. Then we consolidate all schools into three buildings: elementary, middle school and high school. There may be some education layoffs along the way, but that’s just collateral damage, right? Saugatuck School on Riverside (clarifying for those reading this who remember that as the old Bedford School, at least in my day) will become luxury condos named the Saugatuck Riviera. We may have to buy people out of their homes so we can expand the complex. Gosh, I can’t wait for the Golden Westport!

      • You’re not thinking “right” enough. Not the Saugatuck Riviera. Instead: Sell Longshore (all of it) so it can be properly redeveloped as the Hamlet at Longshore Riviera Golf and Beach Club gated community. Distribute the sales proceeds net of kickbacks to all Westport landowners as a property tax rebate.

  16. I have a hard time understanding the unflinching support some folks give to our current president in all areas of his endeavors.

1- Canada sends us the electricity, steel, lumber, mineral ores and oil the USA needs and is not capable of producing. And our current president is demanding that Canada keeps sending it! But Canada has to find things to buy from the USA. Canada already on a per capita basis buys 8 times as much as we buy from Canada! So until Canada buys more, the current president is slapping a tariff on all things Canadian. A tax the American public is going to pay!! Sorry but this doesn’t’t make sense to me.

2- As a physician who was stationed at the CDC from 1967 to 1969, the current policy of cutting in half the Epidemiology Intelligence Service and closing down labs that are the gold standard in disease testing is insane. These officers keep us safe by being stationed in countries around the world dealing with outbreaks of diseases to keep local and not international that make measles look like the sniffles. Try dealing with viruses that can kill 70 to 90% of those infected. Look up Marburg and Ebola (and there are other viruses you fortunately have never heard of!)

3-From an octogenarian’s point of view why would anyone close social security offices all over the country and at the same time decree you may not contact the remaining offices on the telephone? Ever try using computer to communicate with an office that gives you the closed loop run around??

Three paragraphs are enough for now. My Frustrations!
I don’t understand what the current president is doing- If someone has an alternate set of facts they feel compelled to share please advise at your earliest convenience and Dan’s blog is a great place to do so!.

    • Paul Lowenstein

I don’t think even POTUS knows what he’s doing. I’m sure he’s just being told what to do from those who created project 2025. At this point I only see him as a figurehead, but I’m also not naive and keep alert as best as I can.
