Savvy Smoker Busted

Yesterday evening, members of the Westport Police Detective Bureau, along with the Connecticut Drug Control Division, executed a search warrant at Savvy Smoker.

The action came after an investigation into non-licensed cannabis sales, and complaints of sales to minors, at the Post Road East store.

Law enforcement found pre-rolled marijuana cigarettes, canisters of THC flower, THC resin products, THC vape cartridges and THC edible products.

A 24-year-old sales associate from Brooklyn was arrested, and charged with illegal sale/manufacture of cannabis. He posted $2,500 bond, and will appear in Stamford Superior Court on March 28.

Police say the investigation remains ongoing. Additional arrests are anticipated.

Savvy Smoker, 940 Post Road East.

I would like to see Westport , allow a legal cannabis store.

And the doors are still open and the lights on? That said there is a legal store 3 exits down I95 so not sure what Westport is thinking by not allowing a legal retail outlet in town-

What are the impacts on the owners? It seems completely unfair that the clerk is the one arrested and the business continues to operate.

agree, both should be held liable, but guessing it depends how laws are currently written. write your legislator.

  5. Good for WPD. Not surprising since the day the town approved the permit for “medicinal” cannabis, common sense would inform that commercial cannabis stores and, in turn, all the problems they include would be close behind.

Proper legal cannabis stores are not the problem. They sell only highly regulated products. CT has one of the most highly regulated cannabis markets.

The nonlicensed smoke shop is selling illegal products which not regulated and whose provenance is unknown.

Westport should allow its singular, extremely well behaved and compliant medical store expand to a hybrid, to include recreational. That should help snuff out these illegal sales of illegal products.

  6. Good..And nice work by the WPD…

In a town filled with alcoholics with a liquor store on every block you don’t think pot’s a thing? Grow up, and collect the tax $.

  12. The store owners should have been locked up a long time ago for that obnoxious roof mounted sign.

The outrage and teeth gnashing is interesting. Didn’t this states idiot voters make it ok for recreational weed?
So now the issue is “not in our town?l

  14. And, to my knowledge, there’s still no reliable roadside test for marijuana intoxication in drivers, like there is with the breathalyzer for alcohol. Are tax dollars more important than safety on the road?

Are you kidding me?? This is NOT cool!

  16. This is a tragedy… Let us smoke! Let us smoke! Let us smoke!
