“06880” has learned, through sources close to Jen Tooker, that she is “actively considering” her next step.
They shared her thoughts, following this morning’s report by Hartford political blogger Kevin Rennie that Westport’s 1st selectwoman “is preparing to seek the Republican nomination for governor” in 2026.
Sources say she is talking to leaders throughout the state, about a possible run. She is expected to offer an update in the weeks ahead.

Sources shared her thoughts. Why doesn’t she make a statement on this blog and personally share her thoughts? I was under the impression Dan Woog asked her to. ‘Sources’ have told me this is the way she operates!
The first selectwoman has my vote !!!
please list her Schofield Westport’. I have asked 3 supporters to list them. Nothing to date.
I asked supporters to list Tookers accomplishments for Westport. No one has listed them. I would like to learn about her accomplishments. Pleae tell us.
Why can’t Tooker attach her own name to her own words? Is this Westport in 2025 or an episode of Petticoat Junction?
I lean pretty far to the right these days yet I think Lamont is great, you know why, because he is transparent and practical — steady at the helm. Tooker is ambitious and has the ability to work with dems, I can almost see it, yet no, she is not transparent also unsure as a leader. I respect her commitment Westport. In Connecticut we have a history of great Govs like Ella and Wiecker–indie free thinkers–outspoken and practical more than gimmicky. I would be interested to know what Tooker’s vision is about because I dont know it.
She probably wants the title, but isn’t interested in doing the actual job. Just the photo ops.
What position would she give Foti if she was Guv?
Sounds like you are a little jealous of Foti. Or maybe you have a secret obsession.
Rich white entitled Westport liberal is what we would call you. You’re lucky to have a great police department. It’s not easy to work in a town with mostly rich entitled white people like you that look down on the working middle class of Westport.
Trust me I lived in Westport for 45 years I know!!
Connecticut would thrive with Jen Tooker as governor.
She has my vote
We have been so lucky to have her leading our town. Can’t imagine how much better our state would be!!!!
It’s no surprise she would try to run as a Republican. She has no interest in anyone but herself. The Only thing she’s done for Westport is leading the way for her being in photo ops
In my opinion Tooker has not done a good job as First Selectwoman – quite the opposite. I knew we were in trouble when she said she wanted to make Westport a “destination” town. We have grown too big over the last 8 years – with nothing done to help our infrastructure handle it. Tooker is one of the last people I would want running the entire state.
Same street layout as it was 100 years ago. What was the population 100 years ago and what is it now? I was at the downtown Starbucks about 10 days ago and couldn’t find a parking spot close to Starbucks. Some things never change!
While Westport has grown a lot over the last 100 years, according to the census the population in 1970 was ~27,000 and the population now is ~27,000 so this is not a brand new issue.
Hope she does run. She has been a wonderful force for good in Westport.
