Very interesting picture. The squeezed-up perspective in the houses makes an intriguing view even if it’s not accurate. What are the two dark horizontal shapes just above the trees in the center of the photo?

I believe the objects you mention in the photo are ducks in flight? Perhaps Brant ducks, that often frequent the pond.
