Hudson Malone has lots of regulars.
At least, that’s what I figure after readers responded quickly to last week’s Photo Challenge.
Ed Simek’s shot showed tables, chairs, umbrellas and potted plants. One person thought it was Terrain, another the Black Duck. But everyone else knew it was the outdoor dining area at the popular restaurant across from Coffee An’. (Click here to see.)
Congratulations to Rachel Halperin-Zibelman, Susan Iseman, Kate Caputo Squyres, Andrew Colabella, Janice Strizever, Susan Yules, Marjolin Baxendale and Meredieth Messing.
If’ “06880” gave out prizes to winners, you’d get gift cards to the restaurant.
But we don’t.
Still, we hope you’ll play this week too. If you know where in Westport you’d see this, click “Comments” below.

Main Street and post road
Is this the former “needle park” for the old school… formerly the library
Corner of post rd and main st. In the little park area
Old library
The little park that overlooks the intersection of Main Street and the Post Road, where you can sit on the benches and imagine the Norwalk to Bridgeport trolley going up the Post Road and hear the horses across the street, tied to the hitching post in front of what was the YMCA. It was the heart of colonial Westport.
Outside old location of Wesport library – ‘needle park’
Old library.
Drew Friedman gave the space to the town when he bought the library. Needle Park, I hung out there as a teenager, never put a needle in my arm, however.
“Needle Park,” a term that will live forever in the Westport historical vocabulary!
Cafe Christina.. remember?
Isn’t this at the tiny “park” sitting area at the corner of the Post Road and Main St, adjacent to the original Public Library — once known as “Needle Park”?
Yes – the park at the Post Road/Main Street corner, adjacent to the original Westport Public Library, which was known as “Needle Park” in the 1960s and ’70s because of the (supposed) drug use that went on there.
That is needle park right downtown Westport main and post road

in the 70’s 80’s referred to as “Needle Park”
The little park right by the old library building at the corner of the Post Road and Main Street
Funny that “ Respectable Westport” has so many people who remember this little park to be known as “Needlepark”
