Westport began as a farming community. We’ve moved from onions to everything under the sun.
Along the way we added manufacturing, then arts, marketing and hedge funds.
But we always go back to our roots.
The other day, I sat at the Westport Library with Liz Milwe. A native Westporter and active volunteer who served on the RTM for over 10 years, she’s best known now for her work as co-chair of Wakeman Town Farm.
We talked about WTF’s growth over the past decade; its role in Westport; our town’s commitment to sustainability, and much more.

Liz become such a strong community leader.
Liz is wonderful for Wakeman and the rtm she is great to serve with she care a lot about Westport
I remember Liz as a standout “sparkplug” in the very talented BJHS ‘68 and SHS ‘71 classes behind mine. I enjoyed reading about her obviously also gifted late husband Peter and the wonderful things they accomplished together. Sadly, she has experienced more than her share of tragedy but the podcast made it eminently clear that her love for life remains strong and her continuing contributions to the community no less so.
Liz continued to inspire action to make positive change with her creativity, energy and fortitude.
