“06880” Podcast: John Videler

As much as I enjoy writing “06880,” I know many readers come for the photos.

And in a constellation of stellar “06880” photographers, John Videler shines very, very brightly.

The other day he put down his camera, headed to the Westport Library, and chatted about his craft.

I spoke with the 2nd-generation Videler Photography owner (his father started the business) about how he works; the variety of his clients; his favorite shots in Westport, and (of course) what it was like to grow up here.

  1. As amazing as John is with a camera, he’s an even more amazing person. John brings his heart, talent, and positive energy to all Rach’s Hope Charity events. We began the charity to honor our daughter, Rachel Hope, who we lost in August, 2018 to an exceedingly rare reaction to a common medication. John shows up, captures all of the love, strength, and hope in the room, and then donates his work which we use in our social media and marketing. Thank you, John! You’re incredible. Thanks for this Dan.
And thanks for the great memories of growing up in Westport, John. Memories of your family, your dad coaching our rec soccer team, milanos at your house, baseball in the backyard, getting marooned at Cockenoe, tomato fights. Good times.
