The world knows Jane Green as a best-selling author. Her books have sold more than 10 million copies, and been translated into 31 (!) languages.
Westport knows Jane Green as our neighbor. Her volunteer activities are broad and unique. Only she would think of building a free, mobile library “bookcycle,” naming it after our late, beloved Remarkable Book Shop — and adding its joyful “dancing man” logo.
Jane also founded Westport Back Front Porch, the Facebook page that gets even more comments than “06880.”
The other day, Jane and I chatted at the Westport Library for my “06880” podcast. We talked about her new book, “Sister Stardust”; her (yes) remarkable career from journalism and Cosmo to novelist; and of course, her life in Westport.

This is wonderful — love Jane for so many reasons! Just one clarification though: I’m pretty sure that Jane founded Westport Front Porch on Facebook, not Westport Back Porch. Very different communities and purposes to the pages so thought I’d point this out.
Thanks – and of course, you’re right. It’s Front Porch. It’s been fixed!
D.D.I.A. “Dan does it again.”
Lovely interview & convo with Jane Green! Bravo Dan 😁
wild to see this today, I was just thinking earlier today about her very smart and delightful mother in law who I met last year. easy to see from the few minutes of this interview why SW’s SO fond of her DIL.
I love her books, and have read every one of them. I also like that she actually takes the time to respond to her fans ! She has corresponded with me several times asking questions about growing up in Westport.
It’s a shame her group on FB limits members to only residents of Westport and Weston…even if I no longer actually live there now, I grew up in both towns from the 60s- 90s. I still have many friends who live there and would like to be able to be a member to stay ” in the loop”. I’m sure now that Dan has written about the group here, there will others like myself who have long time connections to the area who would like to join her group.
