It was just like old times.
A tour bus was parked in the lot. Westporters opened picnic baskets, popped wine bottles, settled in for a show. The Levitt Pavilion was back.
Bruce Hornsby & the Noisemakers headlined last night’s benefit. Following in a long tradition — Willie Nelson, Smokey Robinson, John Fogerty and many more — the benefit show sizzled.
Most Levitt events are free. They’re paid for by events like this. After a summer of silence — the Levitt, like nearly every other entertainment venue in the world, went dark during the pandemic — last night’s show was more than just a benefit for the pavilion.
It was a resounding way to say: “Welcome, Westport, to another summer of joy!”
