We Gather Together …

… or, this year, apart.

But no matter where we are — and no matter how tough this year has been — it’s time to give thanks.

I am thankful to be surrounded by wonderful friends and a fantastic family. In trying times, there is nothing more important.

I am thankful to live in a beautiful, supportive town. I am thankful our resources are so bountiful, and our residents so generous and kind.

I am thankful that 2020 is nearly over. No one knows what 2021 will bring. But the “06880” community — in-person in Westport, and online all over the world — is strong. We will lift each other up. We will carry each other along. We will get through whatever the world throws at us.

And next Thanksgiving, we will gather, once again, all together.

  5. Happy Thanksgiving to you Dan and all who read and contribute . Your blog has provided a great forum for this amazing, wonderful, passionate town. I am thankful to have been blessed to live here since 1989, raise our kids here , watch one of them get married in our backyard this summer , and be able to be of service to our community . We gather together in smaller numbers , but with big hearts . Much love , Lisa

Happy Thanksgiving, Dan, to you and your family and friends!!! I remain mystified at your ability to write so much every day (and you never miss a day) and to keep all of us informed and also entertained from time to time, often with amusing photos, such as entitled drivers. Those never get old. But I also love your selections such as Stevan Dohanos’ Saturday Evening Post’s cover. Stay healthy and keep up the outstanding work that you do.

  9. Well said Dan. Much to be thankful for in this fine town. Lots of caring people who truly try to make the world a better place. Keep up the good work

Another thankful reader here, Dan. Can’t imagine what I’d do without 06880! Also thanks for the Arlo Guthrie nod. It’s a perfect tradition.

Indeed, Happy Thanksgiving. Doesn’t seem the same without the Greenwich-Staples Turkey Bowl but when I get down, I think of the sacrifices made by our citizens during WWII and they made it four years. We can beat this.

  18. Just chiming in here, but yes, thank you, Dan.

You’re a harmonizing force in this community at a time when we really need it.
