Pics Of The Day #954

Ever since the Westport Weston Family YMCA moved to Mahackeno, members heading downstairs to the fitness center, pool, classrooms and lockers have enjoyed this great view of nature:

But as the Y embarked on its expansion project this fall, the scene shifted:

Recently, it changed again:

A new building will be connected to this one. The view will be gone.

Perhaps the Y can paint a nice mural in its place, reminding everyone of the beauty that still lies all around the Mahackeno site.

    They paved over paradise
And put up a parking lot
Don’t it always seem to go,
That you don’t know what you’ve got
    Til its gone.

How nice,…………. a mural. A ghost image of it’s former self. Seems to be the “Westport Way”.

  2. It would be nice if the Y did something constructive with the Red Barn now that they own it. It’s becoming kind of an eyesore just off the Merritt, used to be a little better kept up

  3. Agreed! It was amazing to see that view from the fitness center, however the temporary loss is necessary to enhance the Y’s natural beauty. I’m excited for May 2020 when Camp Mahackeno and its new pool facilities will be available for the entire YMCA community to enjoy.

Not surprising… everything with this new Y has been a “waiting for the other shoe to drop,” type of situation. I’m constantly surprised that I’m still surprised that they continue to disappoint me.
