      It’s always been OK to say it, but it’s also good to recognize that not everyone celebrates it. (Nor do all of us in the Christian tribe have good memories of the holiday.) I take whatever benign sentiments someone graces upon me in the spirit in which they are given. It’s better than going around offended all the time.
