Say Goodbye To Summer

You’ve probably noticed that “06880” does not run a lot of sunset photos.

I leave those to another local website.

But Andrew Colabella captured tonight’s sunset beautifully.

It’s special for another reason: It’s the last one of the season.

Sure, the calendar says the 1st day of fall is September 22. Everyone here knows, though, that Labor Day puts the fork in summer.

Of course, whether you like sunset photos or not, this is a lot better than the one I thought we might have to run today.

You know: the one of floods, fallen trees and downed wires due to Hurricane Hermine.

  1. Summer is far from over. The bad rap that September gets is the residue from our childhood “back to school” context. We’re entering the year’s nicest weather – warm days and cool nights, perfect for walks, trips to the beach, bike riding and other fun. Long may summer last !!!

    I love September!

(Cue up some Earth Wind and Fire here, song by the same name).

    Lovely picture!

  3. What William said. Aside from the hurricane risk, September weather is generally great. Traffic, on the other hand, takes a big downturn with most back from vacation and school buses/SUVs shuttling kids back on the road.

As for the latter, please remember passing stopped school buses is illegal (as noted elsewhere) as is (for the SUV crowd) texting and cell phone use. Please drive carefully.
