Is this the gate over the bridge at Old Mill?

An easy one. YES, you are all correct: The gate to the private homes on Compo Cove, accessible only on foot from the Old Mill parking lot.

Does the path lead through to Sherwood Island? Are people allowed to go through the gate if you’re talking a walk from Compo to Sherwood or is the walkway considered private property?
The path is private property. There’s a lock on the gate, that’s relatively new (1-2 years). Before that, there was only a “Private Property/No Trespassing” sign. But you’re right — it would lead directly to Sherwood Island (except for 2 houses in the way, at the end of the path).
Not positive but looks like “over the bridges” gate to houses out on the spit. Just before Sherwood Island State Park. As kids we climbed on those houses. Sit on the roof. Mostly for the view. They were just summer homes back then.
It looks like the gate that we kifs who lived up the hill from Old Mill Beach used to sneak through to look at all the big, old houses on the next beach. The housesmust have been Summer houses because everything onside was covered with white sheets. This was back in the mid 50’s.
