Stop & Chop — And Plop

This  morning’s “06880” referenced an earlier post, with a photo about the sudden removal of trees from the Stop & Shop parking lot.

As if on cue, Mark Mathias spotted this scene earlier today, in the same spot:

As promised, diseased and/or overgrown trees have been replaced by hardy new ones.

Enjoy the view — and the shade!

It would be nice if the landlord (and Stop & Shop) would use the short parking spaces on either side of the trees to install shopping-cart holding areas. Many stores outside of Westport use them. As for the loss of a few parking spaces, consider how many are lost all the time by shopping carts scattered throughout the lot.

and for the TREES themselves: take the burlap off the root ball, water, water, water all summer.
