This blog is personal opinion, and is not representative of the views of the Westport School District or Board of Education.
I’m surprised they’re not selling X-mas trees yet!?!
With the unprecedented heat and drought this summer, I can only guess that these pumpkins arrived from the West. Plenty for making a Canadian Thanksgiving pie, but few left for Halloween, I fear.
At least, the wine grapes are happy!
Pumpkins are not just for Halloween. Selling them in September is not anything like starting Christmas displays on November 1. Pumpkins are ripe in plots throughout the Westport Community Gardens. It’s only a week or so until the autumnal equinox.
Oh, pshaw! Our local grocery stores have had ceramic ghosts, spiders, pumpkins, and witches out, and the seasonal aisle with all the candy since the end of August when they took down the Back-to-School displays. We’re ready for Halloween and have been for 3 weeks already! Gourds, pumpkins, pie fixings, costumes, candy, decorations, make-up, carving kits……and the weather at the end of October here is like July in most other places.
Thanks, Dan. For 68 years, Halloween has been my favorite. I can’t get enough orange!
My good friend, PK (Patty Kondub) brought me a “get well pumpkin” from Trader Joe’s after my knee surgery! Thanks PK!
