Happy Father’s Day — We’ll Drink To That!

Father’s Day is not till June 21.

But Bottlerocket — the liquor store by Stop & Shop — knows that if you’re like many Westporters, you’ve got a lot of booze to buy before then.

  5. I can say with complete unfettered honesty.. I never took my parents booze… But we did take liberty with friends parents booze and young Tom Feeleys beer collection… Thanks Mr. Feeley for your eclectic taste in beer you were a trailblazer 30 odd years ago

  6. The statue of limitations has run out on most if not all indiscretions preformed a lifetime ago… But I do stand by my statement….

Glad to hear you weren’t stealing our booze! But then again- Who would want to steal Manischewitz Concord grape wine???

My parents had their rec room downstairs. My dad played clarinet in a Jazz Band with a bunch of other Westporters who also worked at Johns-Manville. They called themselves the Retreads because they played Dixieland, Swing and Jazz, or oldies to them. Every Friday they’d come over to our house to jam before a weekend gig. (Milt Gregory and Jack Solon are two I remember because they all stayed together in their band when Manville moved it’s World HQ to Denver and took us all with them. They became the Retreads West). Anyway, the booze flowed freely, so Saturday night all-girl slumber parties at my house with my Long Lots friends was a LOT of fun. We even had a lot of guys from LL come over to join in, which my parents never knew about. My parents both died in 1989, so I think they’ve let me off the hook as far as reimbursement goes. But, I wouldn’t mind replacing the booze and keeping it for me to alleviate the guilt I no longer have from stealing their booze. Some Johnnie Walker Black for my Dad and Crown Royal for my mom. 🙂
