Oh My 06880 — Photo Challenge #8

Last week’s challenge challenged most people for a while. They knew it was a boot scraper — but where?

Finally, Eileen Lavigne Flug — who as RTM moderator spends a lot of time at Town Hall — nailed it. It’s located at a back entrance of that building.

Here is this week’s challenge. If you think you know where this is — and we’ve all seen it, often — click “Comments” below.

  3. I agree with everyone above

  4. Riverside avenue. Currently sunny daes, was King’s service station

  5. Yep — this one was too easy. It’s the old King’s Texaco on Riverside Avenue, currently Sunny Daes ice cream shop. Both parts of the sign (King’s and Texaco) are still visible. “06880” readers are very observant!

  6. Texaco sign at the ice cream shop on Riverside Avenue.

  7. I’ve always loved this sign. It makes me think of those little jars of jam you’d get with a fill up. Culturally speaking, that was a million years ago. With clear exceptions, the redevelopment tsunami washing over downtown Westport is leaving little of a historic – or even nostalgic – nature in its wake. I don’t know why, but I take great pleasure in seeing authentic fabric from an earlier streetscape that has somehow managed to hold on. Keep on keeping on little buddy!

  8. OK. I do not know the location of the image but the photograph is beautiful, Lynn!

  9. That sign is on the left going North on Riverside Ave, about 1/2 block south of Rt. 1.

  10. Barbara Railton-Jones

On riverside avenue near Sunny Daes?

  11. Sign next to Sunny Daes – wasn’t it once the town gas station?
