Westway is a street off Greens Farms Road. (It’s also where former FBI director James Comey and his family lived, from 2010 to 2017.)
Though part of the oldest neighborhood in Westport, it’s not immune to the wrecking ball.
This week, “Then & Now” curator and pre-demolition archivist Dave Matlow offers 3 examples from Westway Road. The fourth is from nearby Woodhill Road. They’re part of the project he worked on from 2004 to 2020.

FYI: Westway is a public road that connects Greens Farms Road to Harbor Road at the Southport Harbor. Woodhill is private.

And just think of how very much closer they would be and how much more interacting there would be if they lived the way previous generations lived…in one room log cabins. Just think of it! Think of the savings on utility bills, furniture, home decor…what a wonderful world it would be.
Westway Road has served as a heavily traveled Waze cut-through for years, with a steady flow of traffic throughout the day. Many out-of-town drivers treat it more like a racetrack than a residential street. It is far from a private road.
