This location is an eyesore and a blight. I feel that it is a potential danger zone for pedestrians and cars. With all the ordinances in Westport, I hope something can finally be done about it.
I was about to write to 06880 this week about the log landslide! Not only is it an eyesore but really dangerous!! If a key log slipped we could have a real landslide onto Post Rd. I always drive in the left lane because of this risk. Why can’t the twin just shut this down??
Mind boggling. Why has the Town administration tolerated this obviously dangerous situation for so long ?
What’s the alternative? What’s the property zoned for? There’d be no room for parking if the owner tried to put a business there. At one time a local construction company parked vehicles there. I can’t think of a single use for it. Would anyone pay to buy the property?
But, it’s an empty property in Westport. How long can that last?
Peter, I can’t remember it ever being anything but a tiny piece of land that’s always been an eyesore. That probably goes back 70+ years!
It has been on the market for many years. It seems there is an issue with adding an exit from the parcel onto Roseville.I believe the lot is being leased to the user. Isn’t the town involved in a legal issue with this?
Make it a pocket park planted to attract pollinators.
And make sure there is a nice bench too.
It would be a major disaster if just one giant tree allowed the others to slide down onto the Post Rd. where there is always heavy traffic. I cannot understand why our town allows it.
I’m hoping (perhaps naively) that someone in our town government will now finally step forward to take responsibility to enforce the laws and rectify this dangerous situation. Not sure which agency or agencies have jurisdiction , but surely something can be done.
Evan, Write an email to Ms Tooker. You’ll get a response…. eventually.
So nice to see logs go to a saw mill and not a land fill, and over 300 cords of firewood being produced yearly to heat people’s houses in town instead of burning oil. guess all of you just hate recycling!
