  1. For all you liberal white Rich Westporters. You lost. America has spoken. Trump will even win the popular vote.

You have called me and Trump supporters many names because we didn’t agree with Kamala’s Marxist socialist policies. You have shown your hate for anyone in Westport that was a Trump supporter.

Most of America doesn’t live in a bubble like you all do. Americans have spoken and Trump will be a president for all people.

The Democrat party is done. Come join the Trump Train and Make America Great Again.

I heard they have grieving counselors available for all you liberals today.

    TRUMP 2024.

    • Do your co-workers at Morrison Living in Wilmington know how you feel?

      • Elaine Marino

Mr. Prince: What is your point in asking whether Mr. Arciola’s co-workers know how he feels? I find it a bit creepy that you mentioned Mr. Arciola’s employer by name and location.

        Why did you ask this?

        • I’ll answer that Elaine. Prince’ss’ is a coward.

          • AJ Wilson takes a male name and renders it “female.” That is a triple-A burn, because as every MAGA knows, there’s no bigger insult than being a woman.

        • I was curious where all these grenades were coming from. It turns out: (1) North Carolina and (2) the hospitality industry, strangely enough. I’m sure he keeps things civil there. But on a distant blog, not so much.

          • Elaine Marino

Why is it strange that Mr. Arciola works in the hospitality industry? Do you assume that Republicans aren’t capable of working in hospitality? Where are the millions of Trump supporters working? Right beside you, I bet, unless you work for Penzey’s.

Nearly 730,000 in Connecticut and 73,000,000 across the country voted for Donald Trump. You seem to be painting Republicans / Trump supporters with a broad brush, as one fellow 06880 commenter did when she used the following to describe Trump supporters:

“… racism, misogyny, white supremacy, hate and stupidity.”

Another 06880 commenter agreed with Hillary Clinton when she (the commenter) wrote that citizens who voted for Trump are “deplorables.” With 73,000,000 deplorables (plus those who didn’t vote) in this country, how do the Democrats intend to reach these people?

I would suggest you start by following the “hate has no home here” mantra so often found on Westport lawns and stop labeling/belittling your fellow citizens. These people are your neighbors, but have been driven underground because they have been demonized – as a whole – by the Democratic Party.

I have linked the David Brooks’ NY Times article entitled “Voters to Elites: Do You See Me Now?” below:

            http://www.nytimes.com/2024/11/06/opinion/trump-elites-working-class.html

I found this passage from the Brooks’ article spot on:

“The Democratic Party has one job: to combat inequality. Here was a great chasm of inequality right before their noses and somehow many Democrats didn’t see it. Many on the left focused on racial inequality, gender inequality and L.G.B.T.Q. inequality. I guess it’s hard to focus on class inequality when you went to a college with a multibillion-dollar endowment and do environmental greenwashing and diversity seminars for a major corporation. Donald Trump is a monstrous narcissist, but there’s something off about an educated class that looks in the mirror of society and sees only itself.”

Jeff, The only thing that won here was racism, misogyny, white supremacy, hate and stupidity. Half our our country didn’t care what he did for our country or hasn’t done – he could’ve shot someone in the street – but as long as he played in to your hatred you’re good. The other half of us are horrified and we will continue to fight for what we know our country can be. Everything Hilary said was right. Everything.

    • Russell Gontar

What a magnanimous, generous, thoughtful and patriotic comment.

    • There’s no one uglier than a sore winner. Your attitude is exactly what’s wrong with the hijacked Republican party. Whatever happens to this country, you have no one to blame but yourself.

      • the Republican Party has been radicalized by Fox News and right wing media. Here are the principles. Science is Fake. Facts are false. JFK is the leading expert on contagious disease Journslists and investigative reporters are treasonidts. The planet is a free for all to monetize without regard to global warming and polluting. The USA should be a Christian nation

America is already great. The simple truth is that, as seen in 2016 & 2024, the USA is not ready for a woman President. Sad.

    • USA’s Democratic National Party isn’t now so much ‘done’ as it is different, i.e., it’s now the political party of The Cheneys, The Clintons, The Obamas, The Bidens, & Bill Gates WHILE GOP now = Trump, Kennedy, Musk, Gabbard, Sage Steele, Siggy Flicker & USA Muslim Leaders; The Political Party Establishment V The People, ALL kinds of people.

    • Jeff, please read the David Brooks NYT op ed for today…yes, I know, the NYT is a liberal, Jew rag, but Brooks is a Republican with his head screwed on quite straight.

  2. Jeff:

Trump did win this election but that doesn’t mean he’s going to do anything beneficial for the country during this second term. Can pretty much guarantee that.

He’s still a convicted felon. He still doesn’t know how to run a successful business. He bungled (horribly I might add) the response to Covid. He is a serial cheater. He admires autocrats and dictators. He’s a failure and always will be. If you and the Republican Party admire those undeniable moral and ethical character flaws, that’s a pretty sad statement.

His speech early this morning was deplorable and I hope the Trump Train derails before it even leaves the station.

F Trump and anyone in the US that voted for him…

  3. Dan Katz.

Myself and Tim Romano want to invite you to the Trump victory party. Not sure if they allow you at the beach anymore but we could have a great day. Bring the famous Dr Goldstone also.

    Join the Trump train.

Also Dan I believe they have grievance counselors at the town hall for you and your white liberal cult.
Praying for you. America has spoken.

  4. There won’t be another January 6th. He won and now he has to produce!

    • Eric Buchroeder SHS ‘70

Jack, as we all know, you have the “insider track” in Westport politics. Is it true that Tooker has heard the will of the people and is scheduled to make a concession speech later this AM?

  5. Actually the Backiels were more conservative. I know my father voted for Nixon. Trump has won the Presidency twice and both times he beat women! Maybe if he ran against a 6’4” white male who chewed tobacco, he would have lost. But he has to produce because in two years there’s another election and we know the pattern of those off year elections not turning out well for the party in power. I think Ms Tooker will be in that off year election when no one is voting for President.

  6. Hmm.. Trump has “beaten “ two women. I couldn’t have phrased it any better.

    • Eric Buchroeder SHS ‘70

Jack, imagine how the 2nd Gentleman must feel. “Slap-Happy” (to say the least).

  7. Eric Buchroeder SHS ‘70

Too early in the grieving cycle to deal with this. Does anyone have a good “dial a shrink” they could recommend? Someone that accepts Medicare?

  8. Alexander See

Dan – The current Westport voter registration is interesting. Can you provide the town’s registration numbers for the 1950’s?

  9. I’m 77 so I don’t have to worry about Medicare, but I believe the cutoff age is 40. If you’re 38 you’re probably going to lose it. Thank you LBJ. It was a great run!

  10. Elon Musk will own the world. Bone Spurs will have a sudden love for electric. vehicles

  11. Dermot Meuchner

Hahahahaha this is comical. Trump isn’t the cause he’s a symptom of American decline. Time for more political parties.

    • Scooter Swanson III, Wrecker '66

Time for some actual Democratic reform. End this senseless electoral college, have computers establish Congressional districts instead of this atrocious gerrry mandering, term limits, and get money out of politics with publicly funded races.

  12. Your smugness is extremely attractive, but Democrats didn’t lose. We ALL lost – it’s just that members of Cult45 haven’t figured it out yet. Even rich white guys like you may eventually feel the effects of things like climate change, the gutting of the federal government (food safety is highly overrated! and who needs NOAA?), more guns, and Medicare and Social Secunity being gutted. Women who live under Trump abortion bans – soon to be nationwide – have been suffering and dying; 69,000 women have had to give birth to their rapists’ babies in states with abortion bans (kinda ironic considering he’s an ajudicated rapist). Obergefell and Griswold will be overturned by the Obscene Court. Mass deportations that will cripple the construction, hospitality, and food industry. Tariffs that will cause insane inflation and endanger our ability to sell U.S. goods oversees (just ask the farmers who went bankrupt during his last reign). Welcome to the United States of Musk and Thiel – I hope it’s worth you enjoying your mug of liberal tears.

    • Lisa, I don’t recall seeing your name before making a comment. However, your last name looks familiar from a long time ago.

      • Eric Buchroeder SHS ‘70

Jack, I remember Lisa from way back. She was that blind date you had at Staples that went “horribly wrong.” I told Dan (Woog, not Katz) that 06880 should stick to political/socioeconomic topics and that offering CBT psychotherapy in a community format online was a bridge too far but I guess you missed the memo.

  13. Lisa Tantillo

I didn’t go to Staples and I’m not a psychotherapist. But I’m sure that Lisa appreciates your kind comment. 🙄
    Be best.

    • Lisa, I think you’re brilliant and probably more beautiful than Heddy LaMarr, the actress and inventor of the WiFi in 1944!

  14. If the comments and “out there” explanations and supposed realizations exposed from many of these individuals represent a cross section of many regular smart Wesporters, then I am embarrased for them! Listen: America is a Democratic Republic, where majority rules. That’s why we are a democracy! The majority has spoken! If you can’t accept that then either leave or STFU!!

    • Scooter Swanson III, Wrecker '66

Mr. Broady: I heard the same rhetoric back in the 70’s about our involvement in Vietnam. “Love or leave it,” was the bellowing cry. I agree with you on one point: America has spoken in our vote on Tuesday. But considering that our President-elect and MAGA supporters did not accept the results of the 2020 election which was not close and there was no evidence of fraud, I find it ironic that YOU now are mandating those who are not happy with the results of Tuesday, STFU. More than slightly hypocritical.

      • We are STILL a free country and God Bless the First Amendment. We are all allowed our 98.5opinions and can speak our minds and say to all what we feel. It is not a problem or nor should free speech be quashed. However we should use a certain composure and respect to others and not fan the dangerous flames of division and anarchy with hateful and inciteful speach.
This country does not need a lot vile to express freedom of speech. We have had too much of that over the last 10 years.
Whining and attacking after an obvious loss is classless and does not further one’s ideals or position.

We should all be commited to fixing the problems and needs
in our nation with intelligence , understanding and compassion.
Spend more of your time and efforts to help us all make changes that serve, protect and serve all Americans.
As it has always been the case” ACTION IS ALWAYS LOUDER THAN WORDS!

        • Scooter Swanson

A very nice rhetorical comment, Ray, but we live in divided country manipulated, in large part, by a media in which the truth has become subjective if not downright untruthful. I totally agree with your conclusion: more need to be involved and active on what they believe. I have full faith in the younger generations, vice the X & Y who seem to absent in good candidates as well as participation? So there is hope, hopefully.
