Rene Greenlee sent along a great photo, from Compo Beach:

But there’s more to the image than serenity.
There’s a poignant back story.
Rene says the photo shows “2 kids who met at Community Nursery School in 2009. They went to Long Lots Elementary, Bedford Middle and Staples High School together.
“They have remained the bestest of friends through all the highs and lows of growing up. Making new friends, being in new friend groups, playing different sports, making different teams in the same sport, girlfriends … they have been there and done that.
“They navigated it all. And here they are at 6:30 a.m., the morning the first friend left for college.”

beautiful
And I can add to this story by sayin two out of three of my children who grew up here are back with kids of their own. Now the Urist, Haberstroh, shapiro, Schur, Etc; grandkids are on the same sports teams, in the same schools, and playing at the same beach as their parents did. They are back with the new crew and the grandparents who are enjoying every minute of it. They love Westport and they come back
And many, many more. Gross and Wolf, to name two other …
My son also recently moved back and still has friends from preschool through Staples here. My granddaughter started kindergarten at Saugatuck this past week, and it’s exciting to think that she could also be making best friends for life in the coming year.
‘Love this, so special!
Touching and relatable. Thanks for sending Renee/Dan.
Beautiful photo! Is this person related to Mrs. Mimi Greenlee? She was my 1st grade teacher for half of the year at Burr Farms (Mrs. Friedman went on maternity leave, possibly forever…). I saw her many years later at the Library Book Sale and my inner child was thrilled to see her again.
