A recent “06880” story about Couch Potato Salad — Zack Gross’ very clever online word game, using AI computer-generated images — inspired Kevin Carroll to get off his own couch, and play around with ChatBox.
In the AI Image Generator, he wrote: “Create a picture of Compo Beach in Westport, CT in the style of _______.”
Kevin then added the names of 10 different artists.
The results were “pretty cool,” he says.
That’s an understatement.
He sent the images — and a challenge — to “06880”: Guess which picture “belongs” to which artist.
Answers are at the bottom.

From top to bottom, the artists are: Monet, Rockwell, Dali, Warhol, Rousseau, Seuss, Kandinsky, Banksy, Pollock, van Gogh.

None in the style of Miggs Burroughs? 😉
Scary stuff!! They are beautiful and in the style of…..
But does AI get any satisfaction out of its creations??
Does it have a sense of accomplishment??
Or is it just stealing that sense and satisfaction from human creators??
What a hoot. A fun, non-serious exercise in envisioning
different styles. I might quibble with some details….most did not use aspects we would recognize as Compo Beach but then, maybe AI is not familiar with the cannons, playground, pavilion etc.
This is truly amazing. I would love to see it run as Matisse or Matisse cut-outs.
Brilliant.
These are fabulous and amazing.
Um … a friend of mine who looks at things more closely has noticed that the little blond child in the front/center of the “Rockwell” is completely misshapen. Once he pointed it out, I can’t unsee it!
So much for AI.
For someone not that well-versed in artists, I did quite well. I have never heard of Rousseau, Kandinsky, Banksy, or Pollock. I guessed Warhol for #3 that was really Dali whom I have heard of, #4 as Picasso that was really Warhol, but I got #1 as Monet (I love his water lilies), #2 as Rockwell (I am old enough to remember those Saturday Evening Post covers), and #10 as Van Gogh whose style I can recognize but not describe. A very creative exercise.
