Photo Challenge #482

The streetscape of Railroad Place is quite interesting.

It’s hard to see from a distance. There’s not much room across the narrow street. And those who can look up are usually too busy peering down the tracks, waiting for a train.

Or hustling off one, intent on getting wherever they’re going.

But if you do glance up, you’ll see some windows above Harvest restaurant. The shutters bear the letter “H.” (Click here to see.)

That was the subject of last week’s Photo Challenge. Janice Strizever, David Sampson and Andrew Colabella look up enough on Railroad Place to know last week’s answer.

  1. It’s the Machamux (spelling?) Boulder on Greens Farms Road. The story we WYWL docents told when we led the Third Grade Tours in the 70’s was that Chief Machamux could not decide where to make his camp one evening so he shot an arrow into the air. Where it landed was where he rested the night.

Machamux “Chicken” Park. The book entitled “Greens Farms” published in 1930 tells an amazing story.

  4. All wrong so far. For the record: I would have said “Machamux Park” too (based on the way I cropped the photo).

  6. Wow, Dan! You even stumped Andrew Colabella! has that ever happened before?
BTW – Poor Andrew. Looks like the daffodils in your Hillspoint/Greens Farms RD garden plot didn’t come up this Spring.

I’ve missed a couple before, the daffodils are not up yet. Little early for blooming, even with Willowbrook. Give it some time 🙂

  7. Compo Beach Road?

  8. The cemetery in Longshore country club.

  9. Lynn is right – it’s at Longshore, past the pool!

  10. Chief Foti, wellness check on Andrew please 😄

  11. The small park next to the Longshore Marina in honor of Evan Harding

  12. Little park next to Longshore Marina..

I would have guessed Chicken Park too. I’ll have to walk around the Longshore pool!

  14. On the golf course in longshore .
