Andrea Moore — Westport’s 2nd selectwoman — is a proud townie.
She grew up here (and graduated from Staples High School). She moved back. She got involved in local politics (after corporate gigs).
And she loves it.
The other day, we sat down on the Westport Library’s Verso Studios stage. Our lively discussion ranged far and wide: What did she love about being a kid? What do her kids think about Westport? What are her go-to places? And what the heck does a 2nd selectwoman actually do?

I listened to the podcast and I think Andrea could make a good First Selectwoman. I liked the fact that she listens and communicates! It’s my personal belief that no one should be a First Selectperson if they’ve only been in town for 14 or 15 years. Their roots aren’t very deep. (I’ll bet Andrea played miniature golf at the Westport Golf Range.)
Thank you Andrea for everything. You alwsys put signficant effort into everything you do for the town and raised remarkabke girls. We are lucky to have you in this position.

She has had 33.3% of the vote in all decisions.

Though “All politics is local,” there is simply not a single “good Republican” who has not spoken out against Trump. That our Republican selectwomen remain silent on the disaster that awaits us in November, is evidence enough that they are complicit in America’s destruction.
Dan Katz, Then there are his lawyers like Alina Habba ,who has a blank stare like Lauren Boebert. Habba is probably auditioning to be Trump’s fourth wife. Melania got her money for her and her parents.
I have known Andrea Moore for over 45 plus years. Andrea, like our First Selectman Jen Tooker, are both women of high character.
The “pot shots” that have been taken at these two civic leaders by a small vocal minority, continues to get old.
Both Andrea and Jen, before being elected to First and Second Selectman, have volunteered for years in various capacities from PTA, YMCA, RTM, Board of Finance, NCL, and many other organizations. They care about not only our community, but the people in our community as well.
Andrea and Jen are not Trumpies. It is sad that in our town some people still try and play the Trump Card locally. Thank god we live a town where most are highly educated, and make decisions locally at the ballot box based on character, and ability to run our town.
We are fortunate to have two ladies running our town who have the education, experience, and ability to work with others for the greater good of Westport.
Thank you Andrea for your service, and continuing to work with Jen to take on the hard challenges of building a new school, fixing our downtown parking lots, improving our parks and recreational facilities, and securing a AAA tenant at the Inn at Longshore.
The character assassinations and lack of transparency claims, have no place in our community.
Jimmy, This 100 million plus project to build a new Long Lots needs to be looked at with Westport’s roller coaster history of students. I remember around 1956 having double sessions at school because of the flood of students that moved into town. Burr Farms School was built to accommodate those students. After a while, Burr Farms was torn down and not needed anymore. There will be a time when the student population will fall again. I have a hard time justifying 100 million or 120 for 550 students. There have been a lot of negative comments about process and the leaders involved. There will be a time when the student population decreases. Maybe Covid saw an influx into town. I’d be very interested to see the results of the next election! I doubt it’s a slam dunk for Ms Tooker.
Who cares if they like Trump or not. Is that really a problem. All that should matter is how they love and care about Westport.

Jeff, sure it doesn’t matter what they think of Trump, but if Trump is the Republican nominee, they’re on the down ballot and anti Trump votes will effect how many votes they receive. Is Westport overflowing with MAGA voters?
