Pic Of The Day #2274

Everyone notices the boat that’s stranded at low tide by Old Mill Beach. “06880” has run photos of it. Here’s a different view:

I mentioned before that stranded boats are a common sight in England where tides are extreme. Google: “Boats at low tide in England” to see thousands of them. Really amazing!

Dan, don’t quite understand the big deal. Boats have been Stranded (not sure that’s the right word) in Old Mill Cove forever. When I was a kid (50’s and 60’s) there could be 8 to 10 boats Stranded . From Ed See’s kids Sail/Sun Fish, Hatch Goldens Hobbiies to our families Beetle or small outboards. If not stranded in the cove they were stranded in the pond. That included all of Pete Atkins run abouts. Even as a kid he wanted to go faster than the speed of light across the water. Our parents boats were in the marina but all us Old Mill kids had our own boats. When the tide went out we DIDN’T. Just part of life. No Big Deal. It was a GREAT time and place to be kid. As you well remember.

We call it “the tide marker” – if it’s floating, it’s high tide!
