8 AM Fireworks Report: Beach Stakeouts Grow

It’s still 13 hours before the first firework is lit.

But Compo Beach grows more crowded by the minute.

Things are getting a bit aggressive. Check out this scene, with not one or two but three large tents marking a prime viewing spot.

Meanwhile, the stakeout below may be a bit wide. But huge props to the 2 folks who are actually sitting there, minding the spot.

If they’re there all day, they will earn “06880”‘s Unsung Hero of the Week award.

Regarding the last photo, is it okay to claim a spot in the middle of a large circle?

  3. I had to pick up something from my locker today around 2pm and forgot about the upcoming fireworks. Yegads! I thought of a way to bring more money to the fundraiser for PAL: Charge an extra $50 to set up your chairs, blankets, etc. ahead of time. You’d get a special pass and be allowed to come in any time before 6 pm. Otherwise, entrance to the beach would begin at 6pm (when a lot of people like to start with dinner, etc.). Just a thought ….
