Halloween Parade Postponed To Tomorrow

Hold those costumes! Stay hungry!

Westport’s annual downtown Children’s Halloween Parade has been postponed from today until tomorrow (Thursday, October 28).

Children and parents will meet at Main Street and Post Road East at 3:30 p.m. tomorrow.

The parade will proceed up Main Street, turn right onto Avery Place, then turn left on Myrtle Ave to Town Hall and Veterans Green. Children may trick-or-treat along Main Street and outside Town Hall.  Entertainment, refreshments and a small gift will be provided on Veterans Green at 4 p.m.

The event is sponsored by Westport Parks and Recreation Department, the Westport Downtown Association and Westport PAL.

Trick or treat on Main Street.

  1. It’s that time of year when kids of all ages don their costumes, either homemade or purchased, and some of the costumes traditionally include the wearing of a mask……..not the Covid kind that we all have been wearing for 18 months mind you—-the “fun” kind that adds “life” to their costume.
That being said, so many of these Trick or Treaters will evidently be eligible to get the vaccine starting next week and let’s hope that the parents of the newly eligible will have their kids get the shot ASAP for the kids’ sake, the parents’ sake, the grandparents’ sake, and for the sake of us all!

In the meantime, enjoy Halloween, and may all be safe.

  2. I’m new to town, but curious why the parade starts at 3:30pm when Westport elementary schools end at 3:45pm. I can’t imagine anyone could get there before it’s over, unless this is just for toddlers?
