It’s been waaaaaay too long.
Two years ago, lightning knocked out our annual “06880” blog party.
Last year COVID kept us all home.
But that’s all in the rear view mirror. Mark your calendars for Thursday, July 15 — the day one of summer’s best traditions returns.
If you’re reading this, you’re part of the great “06880” online community.
Which means you’re invited.
We’ll gather at 6 p.m. at Compo Beach — specifically, alcohol-is-okay South Beach, by the trees (the opposite end from the cannons).
Bring your own food, beverages (no glass bottles, though!), beach chairs and blankets.
A blog party is a true community gathering. It’s a chance to meet and mingle with the diverse “06880” community (both online and real). It’s fun, un-fancy, and free (unless you don’t have a sticker — but closer to the date, we’ll try to arrange rides).
This year’s blog party will be better than ever.

Dear Mr Woog,
Usually, my father’s birthday falls around the same time as your annual 06880 party. I am glad your party can happen again this year. One year, we held a party for my father at compo beach, and our party ended up next to yours. I saw that after you and your followers were done, you all had left lots of food scraps and garbage on the beach. It was unpleasant, and many seagulls came to eat the food scraps you all had left behind. Leaving trash like that is bad for the birds, and bad for the enviroment in general, in addition to not being polite. I hope you and your followers have spent the year off from your party learning again how to pick up after yourselves, especially since there is so much coverage on this blog about littering and other inconsiderate behavior amongst members of our community. I dont want to come across as a nag, please enjoy yourselves but remember to keep our beautiful beach clean! have fun!
Alana, I respectfully disagree. I am the last one to leave my party, and I do clean up after myself, and my guests. I hope you’ll wander by this year, and enjoy our party. It’s open to everyone. And “06880” readers are VERY environmentally conscious.

Dan, I disagree with your statement that you clean up. I saw the mess, but did not see you and the party was hours after being over, even your gold shiny 06880 baloons were left. I can go through my computer later and find the photos probably. these mylar balloons are very polluting, people let them fly and they land in the sound, ive seen many in the water on my boat. But again, this was a few years ago and maybe you do clean up now, i hope so. I look forward to the party and seeing how clean it will be after! see you there!
Alana, If I go to the 06880 party at Compo, I promise to help Dan clean up every spec of trash, and if I miss something, and you discover it, I’ll donate $100,000 dollars to your favorite charity! I always follow through on my promises and I never exaggerate!
