    You know what might actually entice visitors to Westport more than the blizzard the shockingly wasteful and aggressively urbanizing Dept. of Public Works “improvements” that no one wants but somehow keep showing up like a rash of telephone books? Broom all those tedious, stock images from the town site and put Ward’s work up. Who wouldn’t want to check out Westport after seeing this one? Or his electric night time shot of the Cribari Bridge that ran here a while back? Sell the sizzle, man!

    For town with heightened environmental conciousness the existence of rusting leaking hulk for years is a mystery.

      That’s Mr Sterling’s oyster boat named Gloria. He was one of the last of the fisherman from yester year. A piece of Westport history.
      Rest in Peace Mr Sterling those that knew and didn’t know you personally will continue to look after your boat.

    How much damage can an old boat do? Seems like a lot of sentimental feelings attached to Gloria. I knew Alan fairly well in the late sixties, when I was an au pair in Westport. I arrived in early 1967 from Denmark, I met some other au pairs, I think one of them knew Alan, all I remember is, he became a trusted friend and confidant for several years. Was very patient and acted almost as a big brother and help me navigate some of the customs that was unfamiliar to me. After a few years in Westport I moved to New York, but would often visit Westport, I continue to be in touch with Alan a few years after I moved to New York, but eventually lost touch. Too bad I will always remember Alan fondly.
