      Take them exploring at Lillian Wadsworth Arboretum – great place to enjoy the outdoors. See how many pocket parks there are in Westport that you have never been to. Westport/Weston Chamber of Commerce has them listed in their guide book. Have fun!

    1.) Take the kids to vote with you. Teaching good citizenship starts with YOU! 2.) Then, have them figure out what is the best food for the money for nutrition. Look at the grocery sales in the flyers, give them $25, or $50, or $100, and take them shopping for canned and boxed food for the food bank, then deliver it to the food pantry. It’s good to have a friend along, to really own this task. Have them take a solar calculator to the store, or pencil and notepad. They will feel good, and empowered. Teaching “love thy neighbor” starts with YOU! 3.) Have your kids sort through their books, to discard those they have outgrown. Consider the books. Are there some which could find a new home at Caesar Batalla School, 606 Howard Ave, Bridgeport, CT 06605, Phone: (203) 579-8500 ? Have your child make a list of donated books, package them nicely, and have someone deliver them to the school, preferably your children. Teaching your children how the other half lives starts with YOU! 4.) Gather all the loose pennies in the house, have the kids slide 50 pennies into a penny roll, which the banks give out free. Teaching thrift starts with YOU! 5.) Help you child sort through their clothing to give to charity. Remember, if it has missing buttons, broken zippers, broken seams, these anomalies can be repaired. Any boys clothing you have, sizes 4 to 14, can be donated to Kwetu Faraja Children’s Home, in Kahunda, Tanzania. You can deliver to my front door, or call me and I will come pick up. (203) 610-7732. I am going over again in January, 2018. Learning to recycle begins with the parent teaching this art-form!
