For 76 years, the Staples High School music department has offered the Candlelight Concert as a gift to the town.
Last night’s present was well received, by a full house. Candlelight continues this afternoon and tonight.
No tickets remain. But here’s a chance to enjoy some of what the hundreds of young musicians — and their very talented teachers — gave to us last night.
Thanks for sharing Dan. Definitely a sacred rite of the town of Westport, but I hate to say I’ve never been to one.
Thanks so much for sharing these photos! I participated in the Candlelight Concerts as a choir member and Orphenian and danced in the “Waltz of the Flowers” from the Nutcracker 52 years ago. I have been back twice to enjoy this very special holiday concert, and I hope to see it again!
Hi Sylvia! I sat next to you in choir and also danced in that Nutcracker–52 years– wow!
DAN, Thks for the preview. Have tickets for 8pm performance. Going with my childhood friend Carol Anderson who is also a Staples/glee club alumni. Hoping Mother Nature cooperates as we are truly looking forward to it.
Mr. Ohanian would have loved it !
Great shots, Dan. You are becoming quite the photographer.
Especially liked the reflection photo in the piano (and the explanation!)
Thanks, Sue! I learned from the pro: you!
I wish I could attend. I looked forward to performing in this wonderful concert, as a member of the boys glee club three years running, 1963-1965. It always managed to get me into the Christmas Spirit every year that I participated. Thank you Staples and Westport for that wonderful and magical experience! Thank you George Wiegle!
