Slicing Up Saugatuck

Today was hot and humid. But it’s never too hot for Saugatuck’s great Italian food, from places like Tutti’s and Tarantino’s.

Or Mexican (Viva’s, Cuatro Hermanos), Thai (Rainbow) or Japanese (Kawa Ni).

Every restaurant — including Dunkin’ Donuts — was represented at this afternoon’s Slice of Saugatuck.

So were stores, ranging from liquor (99 Bottles) to sports (Attic) to my favorite — not just in Saugatuck but all of Westport (Indulge by Mersene).

The 5th annual event was sponsored by the Westport Weston Chamber of Commerce. Funds benefit the Gillespie Center food pantry. Slice is nice!

  1. Dan — it was nice to see you there. But I have a slight correction. Parker Mansion was represented — with delicious sllders. Too bad you missed them.

  2. Hats off to Matt Mandell and Jeff Wieser for promoting the best of Westport while serving the Gillespie Center.

  3. Also not participating was Westport Chinese Takeout….same as last year!

  4. Lyne Kiedaisch

Parker had some great sliders/almost full burgers! Did mention to them they need signage next year.
But Westport Chinese not only don’t participate but don’t appear to appreciate the westport community!

  5. Robert Mitchell

Not on the list, and not even open yet, but participating, was Donut Crazy at the train station.

  6. George H Jamison

Parker house was indeed a participant! They put out bowls of sweet chicken, buffalo chicken, fried calamari and French fries, and offered drinks at happy hour prices. They were great, and many people enjoyed it!!

An event we can take pleasure in.

Parker Mansion did not anticipate the demand and ran out of sliders. They opened early and we got Happy Hour prices and cool air inside.Much better having it on Saturday. Great eats and wonderful atmosphere and for a good cause. Only improvement a few more trash cans Bravo to Chamber of Commerce and all who partvipated

  9. Thanks, Dan, from Mike, 2 Wake Robin Road from 1950 to ’67!

  10. Such a fun day. A big thank you to the participating restaurants and retailers for promoting Saugatuck and helping the Gillespie Center. I tried to thank each one of them as I went around the Slice route.

  11. Reiterate Lou Mall’s observation about the roles of Matt Mandell and Jeff Wieser. These events take lots of people, those two are often engaged.
