The threat of heavy rain has canceled today’s Memorial Day parade. It’s the 1st such cancellation since 2011.
However, a ceremony — including the keynote speech by grand marshal Joe Schachter — will take place at 10 a.m. in the Town Hall auditorium. The public is encouraged to attend.
I find it intrestiing that on the day we celebrate the day our veterans put their lives on the line for us we won’t stand in the rain for them
We have gotten so soft
Trump!
Always a tough call but that’s what they make rain gear for
Norwalk was canceled too.
Just found out Fairfield just canceled…However, Rowayton held their parade yesterday so there was something for the veterans. Go to Norwalk, CT Police Department Facebook page, one of Norwalk’s finest took some photos to share with everyone.
Agree with canceling the parade being wrong. I recall playing in bad weather when I was in the Staples HS Marching Band. Seems like a premature weather call – my reading of the radar is that the rain finished early today and moved off… but we’ll see.
It is a shame that the parade was cancelled – I remember the years my son marched (he played the clarinet), and there were some drizzly times also -who cares – it was just always a great parade and all who marched and watched were proud – I think it also may mean a little more to some of us who grew up during WW2 – I was 7 when Pearl Harbor was hit, and all that and what came after – made a large impression on my generation
Anyway, Happy Memorial Day to all!!
It rained in France then.
