A Land-Locked Look At Compo

Ilie Sandul was born and raised in Moldova. Except for a 450-meter access to the Danube international waterway, the country is landlocked.

So when Ilie — a college student — visited Westport earlier this month, he was fascinated by Compo Beach. To him, Long Island Sound must have looked like an enormous ocean.

Throughout the afternoon he snapped some great photos, of views we often take for granted. Here — in the dead of winter — are scenes that captivated one young man, from an off-the-beaten-path corner of Europe.
