Larry Silver’s Longshore

This morning’s post on Longshore’s trees evoked memories for many readers.

Scott Smith — who 3 years ago chaired Longshore’s 50th anniversary celebration — remembered Westport photographer Larry Silver’s classic shots.

Larry spent many years documenting the dramatic entrance road. Here is one of his best.

    As a photographer I appreciate the beauty of this wonderful image! It is perfectly composed . He has captured the peace and quiet of the atmosphere ! I would like to know if he has prints for sale…

    I would love to have a copy of this print. Larry took some photos of my daughter a bazillion years ago for a special project he was doing, she was 3. It was great fun. I bump into him once in a while but don’t know how to find out if this photo is for sale. It is a fabulous picture and always reminds me of the last scene in the movie “The Third Man”. I can almost hear the zither when I look at the picture.

    My grandfather, Samuel DeMeo owned a Nursery in Saugatuck and planted the original trees lining Longshore drive.

    The Gift Shop at the Westport Historical Society sells copies of that photograph. Shop hours are 10-4 Mon-Fri, 12-4 Sat.
